Vilamoura Algarve Portugal
Part of the group of the 5 central Vilamoura courses.
As the course name suggest it was opened in the year 2000, though it is a combination of 9 holes from the original 27 of Laguna and a new 9.
The new nine makes up the outward Milleniium track and are of a Martin Hawtree design. The first few holes are quiet a easy start. However the water protected 6th, which is a long par 3 stands out as a excellent hole. The middle section of the front nine winds though the pine trees, though if you having a bad day you may not find them so pretty.
The back nine is more mature with some nice holes.
Overall the course is quite flat, but there are a few treks to get from green to tee, but it should be a manageable walk for most players.
The 5 courses on the Vilamoura course and managed on behalf of the Oceanico property and golf course development group by Troon Golf. A Arizona based golf management group who’s aim is to bring American service and standards to European golf management. Although the Milennium course is not quite up to the level of the two signature courses of the complex , the Old Course and the Victoria, it nevertheless it is well looked after by the Troon group. A good course to fit in at the start of the holiday before you maybe try you luck on the Old Course.

" A very enjoyable round to get our holiday off to a good start. Some rather long walks though, even though its flat I would consider a buggy given the high temps !! "
